Sep 25, 2008 (TELECOMWORLDWIRE via COMTEX) -- IBM | Quote | Chart | News | PowerRating -- Information technology company (NYSE:IBM) announced on Wednesday (24 September) that Postbank AG, a financial services institution based in Germany, will be installing three new IBM System z10 mainframes.

The higher performance of these IBM systems, as compared to their predecessors, will reportedly allow Postbank to further consolidate tasks and applications in their data centre onto the mainframe platform, as part of a new enterprise model.

The current generation of IBM System z10 will be integrated into Postbank's IT infrastructure for even further consolidation and energy efficiency. The IBM mainframes will reportedly be a part of a major consolidation initiative within Postbank, underlining their core banking strategy and extending their technological competitive advantage.
