Hannover Rueckversicherungs AG Leads Wednesday's AMBG as Global Insurance Index Declines 0.85%

OLDWICK, N.J., Sep 25, 2008 (A. M. Best via COMTEX) -- HVRRY | Quote | Chart | News | PowerRating -- The AMBG closed Wednesday, Sept. 24, at 980.50 (-0.85%). Of the 15 A.M. Best stock indexes, three rose and 12 declined. Leading A.M. Best's Global Insurance Composite Index (AMBG) were Hannover Rueckversicherungs AG (+8.00%) and Tower Group Inc. (+7.81%). Trailing the list of global insurance stocks were AIG (-33.80%) and Conseco (-15.10%).

The Global Reinsurance Index led the sector indexes, with the U.S. Multi-Line Insurance Index trailing the list. In descending order, the A.M. Best Insurance Stock Indexes closed at:

The Asia/Pacific Insurance Index (AMBAP) closed at 1298.75 (-0.13%). Leading the AMBAP were Korean Reinsurance Co. (+7.44%) and Dongbu Insurance Co. (+3.04%). Trailing the AMBAP were Sompo Japan Insurance (-3.71%) and Aioi Insurance Co. Ltd. (-2.33%).
