Loss Prevention employees noticed Armando Lopez, 32, and Sandra Guajardo, 31, suspiciously bringing items into the store's bathroom and then emerging empty-handed, according to police.
The couple was also seen asking other shoppers to give them cash in exchange for the use of their store credit card, police said.
When Lopez and Guajardo left the store, employees confronted them and discovered stolen items inside of Guajardo's purse, police stated.
At that point, Lopez grabbed one of the employees and began to struggle with him as Guajardo ran to her vehicle and drove behind the store, the report states.
Guajardo then drove back toward the store's entrance and attempted to run over the employees still struggling with Lopez, and demanded that they let him go, police said.
At 10:19 a.m., Brownsville police responded to a call from the store and detained the couple, police said.
Guajardo's car contained various items from several stores with price tags still attached, police reported.
Lopez was charged with robbery. His bond was set at $25,000.
Guajardo was changed with robbery and three counts of aggravated assault with a motor vehicle, with bonds totaling $60,000, police said.
