USEC Inc awards EPC contract to Fluor Corporation for American Centrifuge Plant

Sep 26, 2008 (M2 EQUITYBITES via COMTEX) -- USU | Quote | Chart | News | PowerRating -- USEC Inc (NYSE:USU) declared on 25 September that the energy company has entered into an additional USD1bn engineering, procurement, construction and construction management services contract for the period 2008 to 2012, for its American Centrifuge Plant in Piketon, Ohio, with Fluor Corporation (NYSE:FLR). Aproject budget in the value of up to USD3.5bn for the American Centrifuge Plant was earlier announced by USEC Inc. Fluor, pursuant to the new contract, will be reimbursed for costs plus a fixed fee. It can also earn an incentive fee based on cost savings produced. The American Centrifuge Plant is being deployed to provide the dependable, long-term, US owned nuclear fuel production capability needed to support the country's current nuclear power plants as well as those expected to be built in the future.
