Rostelecom, Uzbektelecom sign agreement

TASHKENT, Sep 26, 2008 (Asia Pulse Data Source via COMTEX) -- ROS | Quote | Chart | News | PowerRating -- Rostelecom open joint-stock company, Russian national communication operator, and Uzbekteleom joint-stock company, Uzbek national communication operator, sign an agreement on providing global access to open information resources of IP-network of the Russian Federation through magisterial network of Rostelecom. The agreement was signed within the framework of the 39 session of the Council of the Heads of Communication Administrations of the Regional Communication Commonwealth, which took place in Ashgabat, Turkmenistan, on 24-25 September. The agreement, which envisages that Russian firm will provide broadband Internet access with use of data network to the Uzbek operator, was signed by director-general of Rosteleom Konstantin Solodukin and director-general of Uzbektelecom Hakim Muhitdinov. Rostelecom said that it is carrying out gradual policy on strengthening partnership relations with the leading telecommunication companies and strengthening direct connections to networks of the foreign operators to ensure reliable communication and optimization of traffic routing. As earlier, reported, Uzbektelecom also signed agreement with Russia's Multiregional TransitTelecom (MTT) open joint-stock company, a national operator of domestic long-distance and international communication of Russia, "On rendering services on access to Internet and organization of international channel" on 24 September. The agreement envisages that the Russian firm will provide to the Uzbek partner digital flow of STM-1 level (155 Mbit/s). This will allow to provide access to Internet, including to Russian Internet resources, with use of technical means of Uzbektelecom.
