Aqua America Inc announces acquisition of Honesdale Consolidated Water Company

Oct 01, 2008 (M2 EQUITYBITES via COMTEX) -- WTR | Quote | Chart | News | PowerRating -- Aqua America Inc (NYSE:WTR), a publicly traded water and wastewater utility holding company, said on 30 September that the company's Pennsylvania subsidiary has completed the acquisition of the Honesdale Consolidated Water Company for a purchase price of approximately USD6.7m.

Honesdale Consolidated Water Company reportedly serves around 6,000 people within portions of Honesdale Borough and Texas Township in Wayne County, Pennsylvania.

The office of Honesdale Consolidated Water Company in Honesdale Borough will be utilised as the operations headquarters for Aqua Pennsylvania's Northeast Pennsylvania Division, which servicescommunity water and wastewater systems throughout Pike, Wayne, Monroe and Lackawanna counties.
