The airline recorded a decrease of 5.9% from September 2007 in revenue passenger miles, while available seat miles increased by 0.8% resulting in a drop in load factor of 4.5 percentage points at 63.4%.
Revenue passenger miles for the third quarter 2008 decreased by 4.4% from the same period last year, while available seat miles increased by 2.2%, resulting in a decrease in load factor of 5.0%
For the nine months ending 30 September 2008, Southwest recorded an increase in revenue passenger miles of 2.6% and an increase in available seat miles of 4.6%. Load factor for the period was 72.3%, a decrease of 1.4 percentage points.
