PCTEL awarded favourable response to patent re-examination request

Oct 06, 2008 (M2 EQUITYBITES via COMTEX) -- PCTI | Quote | Chart | News | PowerRating -- PCTEL Inc (Nasdaq:PCTI), a provider of propagation and optimisation solutions for the wireless industry, announced on Friday (3 October) that the US Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO) responded favourably to the company's request to re-examine a patent practiced by Wider Networks.

PCTEL said that this patent practised by Wider failed to acknowledge the company's prior art and technology, specifically technology pertaining to advanced interference measurements.

PCTEL said that, in their summary of action, the USPTO rejected all 13 claims of Wider Networks' patent (Patent Number: 6,754,487).

PCTEL has been granted seven patents covering its scanning receiver and CLARIFY products. These patents describe inventions that cover a range of technologies.
