PowerRating -- Specialty steel maker Allegheny Technologies Inc. said Monday that its ATI 500-MIL armor steel will be used in armor kits on the Army's Stryker Light Armored Vehicles, making it the first major legacy-vehicle application for this newly development specialty metal. The add-on kit will have front and side armor windows mounted in a framework built with the ATI steel product. The StrykShield kit improves visibility while providing full ballistic and blast protection.
