Police identified Bertha Corona as the passenger killed in a green 1993 Mitsubishi Expo van that was hit head-on by a white 1994 Nissan 240SX that crossed into the oncoming lanes of traffic in the 200 block of South Zaragoza Road.
Police said Corona died at Thomason Hospital from injuries she received in the crash.
Corona was the front-seat passenger of the van driven by her husband, 76-year-old Antonio Corona, both of the 100 block of Aspen. Passenger Josefina Martinez, 71, of the 7200 block of Wilcox, was also in the van, police said.
The van was headed south when it was struck by the northbound Nissan.
Traffic investigators suspect that a wet road and tires in poor condition on the Nissan were factors in the collision, which occurred at 11:52 a.m. on a rainy day.
No charges have been filed against the Nissan's driver Enrique Cortez, 22, of the 100 block of Roman Gabriel, police said.
An investigation by the police Special Traffic Investigations Unit continues, police spokesman Officer Chris Mears said Monday.
