BRIEF: Denver building supplier buys Centex unit

Oct 08, 2008 (The Dallas Morning News - McClatchy-Tribune Information Services via COMTEX) -- CTX | Quote | Chart | News | PowerRating -- A Denver-based building materials supplier said Wednesday that it has purchased a Centex Corp. division with operations in Carrollton.

ProBuild Holdings said it purchased CTX Builders Supply, which manufactures wall panels, roof and floor trusses and distributes lumber. CTX Builders primarily serves Centex Homes six component manufacturing and distribution centers.

Terms of the sale were not disclosed.

Along with the Carrollton facility, CTX Builders Supply operations are located in North Carolina, Florida, Arizona, California and in central Texas.

ProBuild was already one of Centex's major suppliers and will continue to provide materials to the nationwide building.

The division sale is the second announced by Centex in the last week.

On Oct. 1 the Dallas-based builder said it had sold its Westwood Insurance Agency to ZC Sterling Corp. for $55 million and other considerations.
