Taiwan's TSMC Sept consolidated sales down 8 pct on month, down 0.5 pct on year

TAIPEI, Oct 09, 2008 (XFN-ASIA via COMTEX) -- TSM | Quote | Chart | News | PowerRating -- Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing Co Ltd (2330.TW) said its consolidated sales totaled 29.32 bln twd in September, down 8.0 pct from 31.85 bln in August.

Sales were down 0.5 pct from September 2007, the world's largest contract chipmaker said.

Parent sales for the month came in at 28.3 bln twd, down 8.9 pct from the previous month's 31.0 bln and down 0.9 pct from a year earlier.

In the third quarter to September, consolidated sales amounted to 92.98 bln twd, compared with 88.14 bln in the second quarter.

For the first nine months of the year, consolidated sales rose 17.4 pct from a year earlier to 268.60 bln twd. Parent sales were 260.94 bln twd, up 17.2 pct.

In today's trade, TSMC closed down 0.15 twd or 0.32 pct at 46.10.
