British Airways introduces upgrade before flying option at Heathrow

Oct 09, 2008 (AIRLINE INDUSTRY INFORMATION via COMTEX) -- BAIRY | Quote | Chart | News | PowerRating -- British Airways has announced that it is introducing the opportunity for passengers to purchase upgrades before flying on European flights and long-haul flights from London's Heathrow Airport.

Customers will be able to upgrade to the business class Club Europe cabin from GBP100 one way or to the World Traveller Plus cabin on long-haul flights from GBP180 one way.

There will be an option to upgrade prior to flying available at http://www.ba.com/managemybooking and at online check-in. Customers may also receive an e-mail inviting them to upgrade their flight online.

The 'upgrade before you fly' option was first introduced by British Airways at London Gatwick Airport in 2007.
