According to Cavium, the OCTEON Plus CN50XX family offers the choice of one or two custom 64-bit MIPS core devices, operating at 300MHz to 700MHz frequencies with multiple software and pin compatible processor options.
ZTE is using the Cavium OCTEON Plus CN5010 to deliver superior broadband access, telecom-grade multi-channel VoIP, Fax over IP, security services including firewall and VPN, 802.11b/g wireless LAN, network management and graphical user interface.
Rajiv Khemani, vice president of marketing and sales at Cavium Networks, said: "We are pleased to enable ZTE to deliver their wireless broadband access CPE gateways. This design represents an exciting new market segment with tremendous growth potential for our high performance, low power processors."
