Rising gasoline prices have pushed up the base price of cars, and Toyota recognizes consumer demand for cars that come equipped with only the basic features so the cost of the car can be kept down.
The new revised Corolla models are priced as much as 75,000 yen (US$762) less than existing choices. For example, the most popular Axio, which comes with a 1. 5-liter engine, continuously variable transmission and two-wheel drive is now priced 51,000 yen lower. One way Toyota cut the price was by turning the rearview video parking assistant into an option instead of standard equipment.
