AboveNet Announces Joseph P. Ciavarella as New CFO

NEW YORK, Nov 03, 2008 /PRNewswire-FirstCall via COMTEX/ -- GAIT | Quote | Chart | News | PowerRating -- AboveNet, Inc., (OTC Bulletin Board: ABVT), a leading provider of fiber optic connectivity solutions, has announced that Joseph P. Ciavarella was appointed Senior Vice President and Chief Financial Officer on October 27, 2008, a position he had filled on an interim basis since March 2008. During his interim tenure he quickly became a key member of the executive team, providing the experienced and informed contributions AboveNet needed to help further its financial goals.

Mr. Ciavarella served as Vice President and Chief Financial Officer of Langer, Inc., a NASDAQ company, from February 2004 to November 2006. Prior to that, Mr. Ciavarella spent almost 20 years in the financial services industry as a Corporate Vice President and divisional Chief Financial Officer at both Integrated Resources, Inc. and PaineWebber, Inc. and Senior Vice President of Finance at Aviation Capital Group, a subsidiary of Pacific Life Insurance Company. He began his career at Touche, Ross & Company (now Deloitte & Touche LLP) in 1976. He is a graduate of Hofstra University and is a Certified Public Accountant.
