In the non-life insurance segment, the Vienna Insurance Group in Poland achieved written premiums of PLN1.11 billion for the first nine months of 2008, which represents a growth of more than 20% compared to the same period of 2007.
In the life insurance segment, the Polish group companies registered growth rates of approximately 70%, with written premiums of PLN977.05 million in the first nine months of 2008.
Gunter Geyer, CEO of the Vienna Insurance Group, said: "These numbers show that the Vienna Insurance Group in Poland is continuing its impressive growth, despite the looming economic downturn. With this excellent result in Poland we are sustaining our upward trend by which we improved our market position from eight to fourth place over the course of only two years."
