Melanie L. Burke, 35, of Port Henry was sentenced to 1A " 1' 'aEUR2 to 3 years in state prison after pleading guilty to felony fourth-degree grand larceny in Essex County Court.
She took a credit card from a friend and bought merchandise at Rite Aid Drugs and the Wal-Mart SuperCenter in Ticonderoga.
Burke was sentenced as a previous felony offender, for having a 2002 theft conviction.
She must make restitution of $487 for items not returned to the stores and to the Ticonderoga Federal Credit Union, the issuer of the card.
She must also pay $320 in surcharges and fees.
Other theft charges against Burke were dismissed as part of a plea agreement.
County Court Judge Richard Meyer recommended that Burke participate in a shock-incarceration program while in prison.
