Ten extra flights were scheduled during the opening weekend of pheasant season to accommodate hunters.
In addition, nine of Mesaba's regular scheduled flights were upgraded to regional jets, according to www.nwa.com.
Only two of the 234 flights tracked by the American News in October were canceled because of maintenance and damage. That's compared to four flights in September.
Thirteen of the flights were delayed 15 minutes or more. Reasons for those delays range from late inbound flights to air crew delays. Flight arrivals and departures for Oct. 21, 30 and 31 were not available.
Mesaba Airlines, owned by Northwest Airlines and operating as a Northwest Airlink, normally makes four round-trip flights a day between Aberdeen and Minneapolis.
Flight 3001, which leaves Minneapolis for Aberdeen at 9:35 p.m., had the best score with no cancellations and one upgrade to a regional jet. Flight 3004, which leaves Aberdeen for Minneapolis at 10:58 a.m., had the worst score in October, with one cancellation and one delay.
The longest delay happened Oct. 26, when flight 3005, which flies from Minneapolis to Aberdeen at 12:55 p.m., left one hour and 51 minutes late. Northwest Airlines' Web site said the flight was delayed because of a late inbound aircraft.
On March 10, the American News started tracking departure times for all Mesaba flights at the Aberdeen Regional Airport because the Federal Aviation Administration does not keep on-time records for small airports.
The departure times for each flight comes from Northwest Airlines' Web site, which lists recent flight information. The American News collects the information daily and records it by flight. Those records can be found online at www.aberdeennews.com.
