ALPHA officer Denny Sanderson said last year's event raised about $3,000.
"We use the funds for the scholarships we give out at the end of the year," Sanderson said. "We also sponsor the calf scramble and purchase equipment that 4-Hers need in the county."
ALPHA awards two of the scholarships each year from a list of students who apply for the awards.
"A scholarship committee will review those at about the time of the Henderson County Livestock Show next year," Sanderson said. "They will make the recommendations."
4-H members will enter their best pots of chili to be tasted by a panel of judges that includes TV personality Joan Hallmark, KCKL Morning DJ Ron Ricks, District Attorney elect Scott McKee, and District Clerk Becky Hanks. Sanderson said they will have a wide variety of chili styles to sample.
"Last year, we had a red, white and blue chili, from All American 4-H. We had chili made with venison and even wild hog," Sanderson said. "It gets pretty interesting. We're looking forward to a really good time," Sanderson said. "It seems like the kids are really excited about it."
The judges will winnow the list of entry's down to two, then select a Grand Champion and Reserve Champion. There'll be a separate award for the most unusual pot of chili.
4-H clubs from all over the county have donated themed baskets. Some of the themes are "Night out at the Movies," Chocolate Fondue," "Thanksgiving Dinner" and "Texas Hold 'Em."
The highlight of the evening, Sanderson said, will be the rifle raffle. ALPHA and 4-H members have been selling raffle tickets for a Nikon 30.06 rifle with a scope. The drawing will be the last event of the evening.
"Everyone will have a chance to sign up until he end," Sanderson said.
