Revenue for the third quarter of 2008 decreased $8.5 million to $29.6 million, compared to $38.1 million for the same period in 2007. The decrease in revenue is due primarily to a decrease in net investment income and an increase in net realized investment losses, according to Eastern Insurance.
Net premiums earned reduced $1.2 million to $33.1 million in the third quarter of 2008 from $34.3 million during the same period in 2007. Net investment income decreased $2.4 million to $755,000 for the three months ended September 30, 2008 compared to $3.1 million for the prior year period.
Total assets were $390.6 million and shareholders' equity was $156.1 million as of September 30, 2008.
