Occam Networks Unveils New BLC 6012i High Capacity Chassis Featuring Unique Interconnect Architecture

The new BLC 6012i incorporates various design advancements that provide a new level of integration and simplicity for service providers. Holding up to 12 BLC 6000 blades, service providers can deploy any current model blade, in any slot and in any configuration while supporting up to 1536 subscribers depending on the mix of blades used. Further, eliminating the need for Ethernet backplane connections, Occam's design for the BLC 6012i takes advantage of Occam's innovative distributed intelligence to minimize blade and system level configurations. The 6012i chassis integrates cabling on the backplane of the chassis for added reliability and service integrity. The chassis includes 20 Ethernet ports located on the rear of the unit. This design enables service providers to scale their networks in a simpler, more intelligent manner.

The 6012i chassis integrates the IBIA Ethernet connections into the backplane for simplified operation, increased quality and faster time to revenue. Enabled by OccamOS versions 5.5 or later, when a service provider inserts a BLC blade into the BLC 6012i chassis, the blade auto-discovers the chassis type and slot location, as well as auto-configures IBIA connectivity within the chassis.
