San Francisco-based Riverdeep is a publisher of interactive products focusing on education and personal productivity for the consumer and school markets. The products covered by the deal include such brands as The Print Shop, PrintMaster and Mavis Beacon Teaches Typing.
Under the terms of the expanded agreement, Encore will manage the development and marketing of new products within the Broderbund line of brands in the North American retail, direct-to-consumer and OEM channels. Riverdeep will continue to focus on sales of these and other products directly to schools and in the international markets.
In connection with the deal, Encore will operate all online sales and marketing activities at the Broderbund website. Previous to this agreement, Encore had exclusively distributed these titles in the U.S and Canadian retail channel.
Los Angeles-based Encore is a retail software publisher. The company publishes a range of utility, entertainment, education and productivity software titles. Its publishing brands include Hoyle, Marine Aquarium, Family Tree Maker, 3D Home Architect, Advantage, Wheel of Fortune and Jeopardy!.
New Hope, Minnesota-based Navarre is a publisher and distributor of physical and digital home entertainment and multimedia products, including PC software, DVD video, video games and accessories.
