According to Sierra Wireless, the Compass 888 is its first PC adapter to be available in Japan, with an expected launch date in December 2008.
Sierra Wireless Compass 888 USB modem is claimed to provide tri-band HSPA/UMTS support (850, 1900, and 2100MHz band), provides potential download speeds of 7.2Mbps; features TRU-Install software installation technology; and its microSD slot allows transfer of photos and other information between laptop and phone or another computer.
Jin Pak, vice president of sales for Asia Pacific at Sierra Wireless, said: "The Compass 888 is an industry-leading mobile broadband product it's the smallest global HSPA USB modem on the market today. We are excited to work with SoftBank Mobile to offer the Compass 888 first to customers in Japan."
