Though Franklin had a difficult childhood, and was raised by an aunt, he has worked hard and earned accolades for his more than 10 years in gospel music. His 2002 album, "The Rebirth of Kirk Franklin," topped the gospel chart for 29 weeks. His 2005 release, "Hero," went gold and platinum.
"The Fight of My Life," his 10th album, has reached No. 1 on both the Billboard Top Gospel and Top Christian album charts.
The concert is presented by the Christian Joy Center.

--Community Day: EL PASO -- Church Women United will celebrate World Community Day Saturday at Highland Presbyterian Church, 9210 Dyer.
There will be a Bible study on the Golden Rule from different faith perspectives.
Coffee and registration will be at 9:30 a.m., and the program at 10.

--Craft fair: EL PASO -- Our Lady of Assumption School, 4805 Byron, will have its annual Holiday Craft Fair from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. Saturday and 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Sunday.
The event will feature more than 20 vendors, a breakfast and lunch menu, and the OLA bakery with homemade baked goods.
--Guest speaker: EL PASO -- Mark Geppert, of Southeast Asia Prayer Center, will be the guest speaker at 9 a.m. Sunday at Healing Place Church El Paso, which meets at Cinemark West, 7440 Remcon.
Geppert and Healing Place have a similar goal, which is to have a heart for prayer and global missions.
Geppert, who has 30 years of international experience, has traveled through out Southeast Asia, Europe, Central America, Mexico and the United States.
Through Southeast Asia Prayer Center, there are several Christian schools and orphanages in Cambodia, a children's heart clinic in Tibet and other world missions.
