Leicht Insurance Inc., located at 619 E. Main St., officially opened Sept. 29.
While this is the first insurance office Leicht has managed, he said he worked for eight years at another local agency. In his previous position, Leicht said he wrote an average of 250 to 300 polices a year.
"That amount of volume has given me more experience," he said.
Leicht also contracts for Hobson Insurance Agency LLC out Kokomo, selling Indiana Farmers Mutual Insurance. As an independent agent, Leicht also offers insurance through several other agencies.
The new agency offers insurance policies for cars, homes, life, businesses and farms.
Leicht said managing his own agency was something he had been looking forward to.
"It was just the time to do it," he said. "... I wanted to take an agency in a different direction."
The business is open from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday and 8 a.m. to noon on Saturday. The business can be reached at (574) 753-9500.
Green Power adding on
Green Power Inc. is expanding its operation at 725 Burlington Ave.
The company is constructing an addition on the north side of its business, and the estimated cost for the project is $180,000, according to a building permit.
The John Deere dealer sells a line of lawn and garden equipment as well as agricultural equipment, according to its Web site.
