The company attributed the increase of net income to its launch of luxury VEVA brand, though unit shipments and revenue declined as compa red to the same period of last year.
The company's sales revenue in Q3 stood at 89.5 million US dollars, down 26.9 percent on year but up 58.4 percent on quarter.
Its handset shipments in Q3 came to about 629,000 units, falling 45 .1 percent from the same period last year but rising 11.1 percent from the previous quarter.
Its gross profit margin doubled from 26.2 percent in the year-ago p eriod to 53.1 percent, compared to Q2's 34.7 percent.
Its basic and diluted earnings per share for Q3 2008 were both 0.39 US dollar.
