OMA made the acquisition in order to develop and operate an NH-branded hotel and commercial areas inside the new Terminal 2 of Mexico City International Airport. The other 10% of shares in the Consortium are owned by NH Hoteles SA of Spain.
The companies will develop and operate a 287-room, five star hotel and over 5,000 square metres in commercial space outside Terminal 2, under a 20-year lease agreement with Mexico City International Airport.
NH Hoteles will be operating the hotel, while OMA will operate the commercial areas. Construction of the hotel is currently 60% complete and is expected to begin operations at the end of the first quarter of 2009.
