Matthew David Peterman, 21, of Sunrise, was westbound on Interstate 595 approaching Flamingo Road at 1:53 a.m. when he collided with the rear of a dump truck driven by Carlos Acosta, 46, of Miami, the Highway Patrol said.
Peterman, who was wearing a helmet, was thrown off his 2007 Honda motorcycle and died at the scene.
The crash closed the westbound lanes of the interstate for about four hours.
