The company said that roaming partnerships with 14 wireless companies provide Cricket customers unlimited usage in an area stretching from New York to California and from Wisconsin to Texas. The service is available now and is included at no extra charge in Cricket's $50 and $60 monthly rate plans, and is available with all other rate plans for an additional $5 per month. Customers can also continue to purchase Nationwide Roaming Minutes through Cricket's Flex Bucket program.
"Premium Extended Coverage gives Cricket customers the advantage of the largest unlimited roaming coverage area of any low cost, unlimited carrier," said Doug Hutcheson, Leap's president and CEO. "This is a great added value for our customers since they now have unlimited calling in major metropolitan areas where they might visit for work or pleasure. The launch of PEC is another example of how Cricket consistently looks for opportunities to increase the value of our offerings and better meet customer needs."
PEC provides Cricket customers with talk across partner coverage areas without incurring roaming charges. Key new markets covered in the PEC include: Los Angeles, Sacramento and San Francisco, Calif.; Jacksonville, Miami and Orlando, Fla.; Atlanta, Ga.; Indianapolis, Ind.; Detroit, Mich.; Columbus, Cleveland and Toledo, Ohio; Dallas, Texas; and Green Bay, Wis. PEC is not available for Cricket's broadband or PayGo products.
