IPPO Dir. Ricardo De la Paz said following the directive of Iloilo Gov. Niel D. Tupas Sr., they have intensified their campaign against illegal fishing which yielded so far the apprehension of eight fishing boats and the 13 patrons and crewmembers of the fishing vessels.
The fishing boats and their patrons, through the joint force of the Iloilo Provincial Bantay Dagat, the Bgy. Mangalabang of Concepcion Bantay Dagat, and the 608th Iloilo Provincial Mobile Group headed by Major Leroy Rapiz apprehended F/B Kenneth with patron Ricky Bello; F/B Alpha and Omega with patron Lilibel Samson; F/B Robina with patron Ian Padesio; and F/B Cute with patron Felimon Gregorio Wednesday, illegally fishing within the five kilometers prohibited zone of Bgy. Mangalabang.
Other fishing boats and patrons apprehended were F/B Tintin with patron Alma Sinedo; F/B MM with patron Susana Bagaforo; F/B Inday May with patron Daniel Gregorio; and F/B Jepoy with patron Ronald Solaver that were using fine mesh nets and active gears.
The fishing boats are now impounded in the patrol base of the Bantay Dagat in Bgy. Mangalabang with the patrons facing charges for violation of Republic Act 8550 or the 1998 Philippine Fisheries Code.LDV/AJP/vlo
