A bus tour of eight Sun Metro projects -- from the upcoming Oregon Street rapid service between Downtown and UTEP to the contemplated Mission Valley Terminal in the Lower Valley -- is scheduled on Tuesday.
"Several projects will start early next year and we figured this is a good chance to update the board on their progress," said Cynthia Grajeda, a spokeswoman for Sun Metro. "This is a chance for the public to know where we stand on each one of these projects."
Although the transit board meeting is open to the public, there is limited space on the bus that will tour the facilities.
The bus will visit the following sites:
--Oregon Street.
--Glory Road terminal.
--Mesa Street corridor.
--West Side terminal on Remcon Circle.
--Northgate terminal in the Northeast.
--Fred Wilson Lift facility.
--Montana Avenue corridor.
--Mission Valley terminal on Alameda Avenue.
"Mass transit is a big priority for this council, so I'm glad that we're getting this update," said West-Central city Rep. Susie Byrd, who has spearheaded some of the initiatives being incorporated into the Sun Metro system next year.
