Judge Amchan ordered that CNN offer to reinstate more than 100 workers and provide them with back pay and other benefits. In December 2003 and January 2004, CNN terminated its contracts with Team Video and directly hired employees to perform the work in its Washington and New York bureaus.
The Team Video employees were represented by National Association of Broadcast Employees & Technicians-Communications Workers of America. The judge required CNN to recognize the unions in New York and Washington. He also issued a cease and desist order to prevent CNN from infringing on its employees' rights under labor law.
