Trent Leon of Oklahoma State came in second after falling to Sickle on the sixth playoff hole.
Van Sickle started Tuesday six shots off of the lead, but shot an eight-under-par 53 to force the playoff with Leon.
Van Sickle won the title with a 7-foot birdie putt on the sixth playoff hole.
It was the longest playoff in the 34 years of the golf classic. The previous high was three playoff holes.
