The programme will develop measuring and control solutions for processing renewable chemical resources in the wood processing industry. The programme will focus particularly on developing applications to reprocess water, energy production and bio refineries, the company added.
The scope of the programme is about 70 man-years and the cost estimate about EUR6m. The programme is expected to employ 5-10 people from the UPM Kajaani mill.
Metso, headquartered in Helsinki, Finland, provides technology and services to customers in the pulp and paper industry, rock and minerals processing, the energy industry and selected other industries. The group has nearly 27,000 employees in some 50 countries and reported net sales of EUR6bn in 2007.
One British pound (GBP) is worth approximately 1.18 euros (EUR).
