--After completing a review of the officer-involved shooting of a Victorville man, the San Bernardino County District Attorney's office found that it was justifiable selfdefense.
"The fatal shooting of Ibn (Rasheed) Jones was a justifiable homicide by a public officer in the performance of his duties," according to a news release from the District Attorney's office.
Jones, 28, fled the scene of a fight with his girlfriend, reportedly over a child, near the Jack in the Box restaurant in the 12400 block of Amargosa Road on July 8, according to officials.
While hopping a chain-link fence separating Amargosa Road and Interstate 15, Jones dropped a gun, then retrieved it and turned toward deputies, according to officials' reports.
That is when San Bernardino County sheriff 's Victorville station Deputy Kent E. Watson shot Jones.
Deputies performed CPR at the scene and called for medical aid; however, Jones was pronounced dead at the scene.
