Avnet Technology Solutions Bolsters Its OneTech Managed Services

Nov 27, 2008 (10Meters.com via COMTEX) -- TSCCD | Quote | Chart | News | PowerRating -- With industry analyst firm IDC predicting that worldwide Software as a Service (SaaS) revenues will reach $17B by 20121, Avnet Technology Solutions, an operating group of Avnet, announced a new offering to help its value-added reseller partners in the Americas target this market.

With Avnet's OneTech Hosted SharePoint services, Avnet partners can provide their customers with a secure, central location where employees can collaborate with team members, find organizational resources, manage content and workflow, and gain the business insight needed to make better-informed decisions. The new service is designed to help partners expand their managed service portfolios and gain incremental revenue, the company said.

"Now is the time for our customers to take advantage of the fastest growing segment in managed services, which is hosted application management," said Tony Vottima, vice president, Avnet Technology Solutions, Americas, Solutions Marketing and Development group. "As cloud computing continues to become more mainstream, there will be an increasing demand for partners to manage their customers' IT infrastructure in new and different ways. Avnet's OneTech Hosted SharePoint services are a perfect way for partners to introduce customers to the software as a service model, without the significant upfront costs of developing these types of services in-house."

According to the company, Avnet's OneTech Hosted SharePoint enables partners to provide their customers with a way to create, manage and build collaborative web-sites and make them available throughout the organization, securely over a Web infrastructure. The services are offered on a pay-per-use model with a predictable monthly cost based on customers' project needs and the ability to scale as their organization grows.
