The landmark figure -- applying to handsets with camera lens definitions of 5 megapixels and higher -- was achieved as of the end of the second week of the month, Samsung said in a statement.
Samsung accounts for a quarter of global mobile phone sales of similar camera capacities, according to market research agency Gartner which recently estimated that global shipments of high-powered camera phones had reached 40.1 million units this year.
The South Korean company expects to sell 13 million high-definition camera phones by the end of the year to boost its market share to 32 per cent among models with similar camera capacities from competitors.
Gartner forecasts that global sales of high-powered camera phones will reach 110 million units next year and expand up to 330 million units by 2011.
