Murray, 41, joins from GSL, a private equity-owned support services company, recently acquired by G4S. Prior to that, he was chief financial officer of TNT Express, TNT's global express parcels division.
Macfarlane will leave Rentokil following a handover period during January and February 2009, the firm said in a statement.
