The memorial was created for 20-year-old Greg Wright of York, who died early Thursday after being shot multiple times in the 400 block of East Prospect Street, police said.
Glaze, 21, was visiting York with his girlfriend for Thanksgiving. He said he couldn't believe his best friend had been killed.
He learned of Wright's death Thursday night when a friend from New York sent a MySpace message asking about funeral arrangements. Glaze had spoken to Wright only five days earlier.
"None of us can accept the fact that this happened to Greg," he said. "He could take on anybody."
A good friend: Wright was a lighthearted, dependable friend, Glaze said. Whenever he needed help, Wright was there with food, money or a place to stay.
The two met at a party in 2005 and became fast friends, regularly spending the night at each other's homes, competing for girls' telephone numbers and playing "very competitive" games of Madden NFL on the Xbox.
Wright would usually play as the Atlanta Falcons -- his favorite team -- or whichever team was rated best that year, Glaze said.
"He always won," he said. "Every time we had was a fun time."
York City Police have released few details about the 1 a.m. shooting on Thursday, saying only that Wright died shortly afterward.
Detectives are interviewing witnesses in an attempt to identify a suspect in an ongoing investigation.
Second
shooting: The shooting was one of two on Thanksgiving morning in York.
At 3 a.m., police said Jonathan Batty suffered a gunshot wound to his left ankle.
Police said Batty did not provide a description of a shooter or motive for the incident that occurred at 521 McKenzie St. Batty was taken to York Hospital for treatment. Information about his condition was not immediately available.
Police ask anyone with information about either shooting to call 849-2219 or 849-2204.
