Tulsa beat Marshall 38-35 on Saturday and a few minutes later became West champion when Houston lost 56-42 against Rice.

Jarod Tracy kicked a 22-yard field goal with 3:42 left, and Tulsa's defense made a stop on fourth-and-1 to give the Golden Hurricane the win.
Tulsa's defense gave up big plays all day, but the Hurricane made a stand when it counted most. Marshall faced fourth-and-1 near midfield with less than three minutes left when Tulsa stopped a running play short of a first down. The Golden Hurricane then ran the final two minutes off the clock.
