IDTI | Quote | Chart | News | PowerRating -- IDT (Integrated Device Technology), a provider of essential mixed signal semiconductor solutions that enrich the digital media experience, announced that its PanelPort solution, an embedded DisplayPort compliant receiver and timing controller (TCON) device, has been chosen by CPT (Chunghwa Picture Tubes) for inclusion in its 14"W flat panel display for notebooks.

The CPT 14"W notebook module will feature 16:9 aspect ratios for high definition (HD) viewing experience. CPT, a supplier of display technology, provides a wide variety of notebook modules with both CCFL (cold cathode fluorescent lamps) backlight and LED (light emitting diode) backlight.

CPT said that it is working in conjunction with IDT to continuously develop new products, while raising the quality of its products and services.

The IDT PanelPort solution offers CPT exceptional power efficiency combined with an increased level of digital signal integrity. The IDT PanelPort device significantly reduces electromagnetic interference (EMI) on all the display device interfaces through its unique incorporation of IDT in-house customizable serializer/deserializer (SerDes) and its industry leading serial interface and timing technologies. Moreover, IDT noted, the customized PanelPort device is architected to improve performance by extending battery life and reducing power consumption through optimal thermal management, thus enabling further differentiation for the flat panel display market.

"DisplayPort is establishing itself as the next-generation digital connectivity option of choice for leading panel vendors, like CPT," said Ji Park, vice president and general manager of the IDT Video and Display Operation. "IDT is excited to help CPT provide its customers with advanced display technologies that utilize the unique SERDES and EMI-reduction technology from IDT."

"CPT is pleased to be working with IDT to provide our customers with a quality display device," said Ryan Chung, chief director for the Product Planning General Division, TFT BU from CPT. "Like IDT, we believe in the potential of the DisplayPort interface and see the increased performance in displays it provides us and our customers, while allowing us to address the growing bandwidth concerns of any high-resolution audio and video application."
