The wreck happened on Wright Brothers Boulevard near the Interstate 380 interchange just before 11:15 a.m. The cab driver, who did not want to be identified, said he lost control as he was going westbound.
"I just went from the red light and lost it," he said.
The cab spun in the middle of the road and struck a car that was headed east, pushing it underneath the semi trailer. The semi was from Archer Daniels Midland and was carrying corn syrup, its driver said.
Police cited the cab driver for failure to maintain control. The cab was not carrying any passengers when the accident happened.
Firefighters helped a male out of the car that was underneath the semi, but he was not injured.
The eastbound lanes of Wright Brothers Boulevard were blocked by police from Sixth Street SW to the Interstate 380 overpass.
