Sunday night police were still withholding the name of the victim, described as a male in his 20s, pending notification of next of kin, who live out-of-state.
The shooting occurred shortly before 1 a.m. outside the popular Woodshed Lounge, near the intersection of Third Avenue and F street.
Witnesses reported hearing loud voices and arguing before the gunfire started.
Medics transported the victim to the hospital, where he died.
Shortly after the shooting, patrol officers spotted a dark Honda traveling westbound on Third Avenue carrying the suspect. The vehicle was stopped and its three male occupants were questioned by police.
One of them, Vongdevane Vongthongdy, 26, of Anchorage was arrested on charges of second-degree murder. He was also charged with misconduct involving weapons in the 3rd and 4th degree.
His bail was set at $250,000 cash and he was placed in the Anchorage Jail.
Vongthongdy is due to be arraigned at the Anchorage jail court today at 3 p.m.
