The dog was later euthanized.
According to a criminal complaint filed in Ramsey County District Court:
Police were dispatched about 11 a.m. Friday to the 1700 block of Adolphus Street in Maplewood on a call of criminal damage to property.
Quincy Lee Morrow, 22, told the officers that he had smashed the windows of his girlfriend's car. But he said the police were no longer needed.
"My girlfriend does not want to press charges," he said.
When officers looked at the car, they noted that all the windows except the one on the driver's side had been broken out.
Police asked the woman if she wanted Morrow arrested. She said she didn't know what to do. She was afraid of him, she said, and the argument had started over "Remy," the 27-pound dog he had thrown off the balcony.
Morrow told police that he had put the dog into a kennel on the balcony because it was acting aggressively. When he went to get it out, it bit him -- and when Morrow reacted to the bite, the dog flew into the air and over the balcony and onto the ground, he said.
Police could see no bite marks on Morrow's hand.
According to the complaint, a veterinarian said Remy suffered multiple fractures and needed to be euthanized. The vet also noted
that the dog had a sweet disposition.
