Sasol hopes to finish initial studies of the multi-billion U.S. dollar project in January, 2009, Energy and Mineral Resources Minister Purnomo Yusgiantoro said yesterday.
The factory is to have a daily production capacity of up to 1.1 million barrels, Purnomo said, adding Sasol will team up with local companies including state-owned oil company PT Pertamina.
Meanwhile, head of the research and development center of the ministry Bukin Daulay said the government will sign feasibility study of the project in mid February, 2009.
Construction of the project will take around 5 years that it is expected to come on stream in 2015, he was quoted as saying by the newspaper Investor Daily.
