"The initiative shown by Shell Canada reflects the true partnership it has had with our Institut for the past 18 years. Through this donation to the Fondation du Collège de Maisonneuve, Shell Canada is providing our students and professors with an opportunity to use specialized equipment and benefit from the expertise of its professionals in the trade. The end result is quality training, highly qualified graduates and special ties with a first-rate employer," said Martin Demers, Director of the Institut de chimie et de pétrochimie at Collège de Maisonneuve.
Through the Campus Ambassador Program, Shell Campus Ambassador Team members will deliver presentations to Collège de Maisonneuve students in the Institut de chimie et de pétrochimie on subject areas relevant to their studies. Faculty members will have the opportunity to interact with Shell representatives to enhance their knowledge and understanding of the latest technological practices.
"Our Campus Ambassadors are key to developing strong relationships with universities, colleges, and trade and technical schools. As well as forming bonds with the students and faculty, the Ambassadors will help reinforce Shell's reputation as a first class employer," said Christian Houle, Shell Canada General Manager, Montreal East Refinery.
In addition to the hands-on involvement of Shell Campus Ambassadors, Shell Canada provided $200,000 to purchase industrial laboratory equipment and to support a campaign to promote the chemical process technician program in the greater Montreal region.
"As an energy company committed to learning and sustainable development, our goal is simple: to bring out the best in Canada's students today knowing they will become the leaders of tomorrow," said Houle.
