Robert Gruder, Stinger's CEO, said, "I believe the TruVu audio/video camera is among the most advanced gun video technologies available. Unlike Stinger's competitor's black and white more expensive model that is placed in the grip of the gun, the TruVu's incredible engineering has made the unit so small that it can be conveniently placed below the barrel of the S-200 AT allowing for an officer to have no possible interference with their grip."
Stinger stated that features of the TruVu video unit are:
- The TruVu operates on the S-200 AT's off the shelf batteries and does not require inconvenient rechargeable batteries
- Records at approximately 15 frames per second in full color (compared to Taser International's Taser Cam black and white 10 frames per second)
- Users will be able to record up to two hours of video on the included 2 GB memory card (compared to 1.5 hours of competitors)
- An "Instant on" feature is built in to the S-200 AT so the camera will be activated when the gun is turned on
- Simple USB download
- Date and Time stamp on PC
- Video format 3GP, Video resolution 352*288 CIF
The TruVu cameras are anticipated to ship in the early first quarter of 2009.
