PowerRating -- AU Optronics Corp (2409.TW) has decided to delay
construction by at least six months of two new LCD plants, expected to cost
nearly 400 bln twd, effectively bringing 2009 capital expenditure to zero, the
Economic Daily News reported, citing chairman KY Lee.
AU was originally scheduled to begin building a 10th-generation plant and an
11th-generation plant in July 2009, when the intended site in a central Taiwan
science park is ready, the newspaper added.
"One has to use the brakes and slow down a bit on a downhill path," Lee was
quoted as saying.
