China Unicom saw its fixed-line user number amount to 105.017 million after losing 1.52 million such users in November. On the other hand, its broadband user number increased by 234,000 in the month to 25.438 million, according to the statement.
China Unicom (Hong Kong) was born after the previous mobile telecoms carrier China Unicom Limited took over China Netcom Group Corporation (Hong Kong) Ltd., a fixed-line telecoms service provider, in light of the country's revamp plan for the telecommunications industry reshuffle.
In addition, China Unicom sold its CDMA business to China Telecom Corporation Limited (NYSE: CHA and SEHK: 0728), one of the country's largest fixed-line operators, in accordance with the government-led initiative.
